S.O.S D.I.Y Mask

So I have been pregnant for a total of 32 weeks and I have noticed my body change (of course) but also my skin. I used to have mild acne when I was younger and now it has returned with a vengeance! I would get spots that would come and go and some that would go and leave their mark. At times I had to battle spots, dark marks and dull skin. So I thought of a quick and easy emergency mask using the ingredients I had laying around in my house. Lets see how I got on :)

Ingredients used: Manuka Honey, Charcoal and Bentonite Clay and a clear bowl and of course a spoon to mix with

Optional ingredients:  Lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. I would have ideally used fresh lemon juice but I just didn't have it so this will do just fine .

Short list of benefits of these ingredients:

  • Manuka Honey - antibacterial and great for soothing wounds, acne, sore throats and much more
  • Charcoal powder - great for teeth whitening, anti ageing, banishing oily skin, detoxing and more.
  • Bentonite Clay  - detoxifying, supporting healthy digestion, packed with minerals and more
  • Tea Tree Oil - great for acne, anti-inflammatory, Inflammation, infections, wound healing and more
  • Lemon juice - great for lighten dark spots, blemishes, acne, oily skin, whitening teeth and more
  • Apple Cider Vinegar - great for balance the body's pH levels, acne, blemishes, removes toxins, age spots, wrinkles and more.

The Process

As I am making a mask for one I only used 1 charcoal pill with 1 and a 1/2 tea spoon of the clay

Mixed together then I gradually added 2 tea spoons of the honey with a CLEAN spoon

You will have to use some elbow grease and patience while mixing it all together in to a smooth paste

Optional you can add 1 teaspoon of vinager or lemon juice. I opted for the lemon juice this time  just a few drops so around 1 tea spoon

I applied the mask with a spoon as it was quite sticky. It took a while for this mixture to dry but then again I was catch up watching Four in a Bed on Channel 4. So I must have waited around 20+ minutes. The mask didn't dry completely solid but rather to a dry sticky mask. As the mixture was quite thick I ended up gently scrapping of the mask off with the spoon (up to you but I was bored and found myself just doing that haha). However the rest washed off easily with lukewarm water. My skin ended up feeling smooth and it had a lovely glow which was exactly what I needed. Next step was to tone my skin.

So I made a D.I.Y toner which will come out in the next blog... To be continued

Until next time
